about our Mission
The purposes of the Waterford Preservation Trust Corporation shall be to facilitate the restoration, preservation, and adaptive reuse of the Lower Waterford Congregational Church building.

This church building has been central to the life of the Waterford community, regardless of religious affiliation, since it was constructed in 1859.
A town-wide survey conducted in 2017 confirms that there is significant support for the preservation and adaptive reuse of the church building.

The church was recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Before the building can be open to the public for various possible uses (café, classes, or performances), however, several repairs & modifications to the structure need to occur.
An architectural assessment conducted in 2020 lists as priorities: replacement of the north foundation wall and support piers, new electrical wiring, handicap accessibility, roof replacement, and steeple repairs.

A non-profit organization, the Waterford Preservation Trust, llc (WPT), was formed to further the goals of preservation and adaptive reuse of the church building. The Board of directors of the WPT consists of community leaders dedicated to the revitalization of the village of Lower Waterford by restoring the church building.
